Administrative Justice in Ukraine: Achievements and Prospects

09/06/2016

On 6 September 2016 ArsLegem’s partner Oleksandr Petrov participated in the International conference “Administrative justice in Ukraine: achievements and prospects”, organized by the Supreme Administrative Court of Ukraine. Participants discussed topical issues of the judicial reform and performance of administrative justice courts after liquidation of the Higher Administrative Court of Ukraine.

Particular attention was paid to the issue of transferring of untried cassation cases to the restructured Supreme Court of Ukraine. It is anticipated that upon completion of the restructuring of Supreme Court of Ukraine and amendments to the relevant process laws the Supreme Court will receive over 40 thousand untried cassation cases to deal with. It is obvious that such workload will negatively influence the court’s ability to consider cases in a timely manner and issue high quality rulings.
